New Beginnings & Bittersweet Endings

It’s been a little while since I last posted, and in that time, quite a lot has happened—both in my writing world and the real one. Life, as always, moves fast. But today I’m making space to slow down for a moment, reflect, and share a few big updates.

The End of an Era: Whispers of Fate

Let’s start with the milestone that’s left me feeling both proud and oddly wistful: the final draft of Starfall: Whispers of Fate, book 3 of 3 in the Overlord Saga, has officially been uploaded to Kindle Direct Publishing.

That’s it. The Overlord Saga is done.

Typing those words feels surreal. When I first sat down to write this series, I had no idea just how much these characters, their choices, and their world would come to mean to me. Finishing a trilogy is more than just tying up loose ends—it’s about giving each arc its emotional weight, letting the characters grow, stumble, and (hopefully) triumph in ways that feel earned. I’ve rewritten some scenes more times than I can count, chasing that elusive “right” moment, and now, at last, it’s out of my hands and into yours.

I’ll admit, letting go is hard. But it’s also freeing—because it means I can finally turn my full attention to what comes next.

New Horizons: Shadows of Atlantis

After a much-needed breather (read: long walks, catching up on sleep, and probably one too many biscuits), I’ve started working on a new chapter in the Starfall universe.

Book 4 is officially underway, and it kicks off a brand-new saga: The Shadows of Atlantis. This marks a fresh direction in the series—new characters, deeper lore, and a different kind of mystery pulsing at its heart. Right now, I’m still in the early drafting phase, building the bones of the story and reacquainting myself with that thrilling uncertainty of the blank page.

It’s equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. But honestly, there’s something electric about a new beginning—about not quite knowing where a story will lead, only that you’re ready to follow it.

Life Outside the Pages

Of course, writing isn’t the only thing that’s been keeping me busy.

By day, I’m still very much embedded in the busy rhythms of the NHS, juggling meetings, project work, and trying to stay one step ahead of my ever-growing to-do list. It’s challenging work, but also deeply grounding. There’s something strangely comforting about that balance between fiction and real life—being able to switch between crafting fictional crises and helping to solve real-world ones.

And speaking of real-world highs: Arsenal beating Real Madrid in the quarter-finals? Absolutely buzzing. It’s been years since I’ve felt this much hope and excitement about the team. Whether it’s the clever footwork on the pitch or the raw emotion of a last-minute goal, there’s a kind of poetry in football that makes it feel not unlike storytelling in its own right.

Looking Ahead

So what’s next? More writing, naturally. I’ll be diving deeper into Shadows of Atlantis over the coming weeks, and I’m hoping to share some early snippets or concept art soon. If you’ve been following the Starfall series so far—thank you. Truly. Your messages, feedback, and support keep me going, even on the days when the words don’t come easily.

And if you’re just discovering the series now, well—welcome. There’s a galaxy waiting for you.

Until next time,—H
